This sub-project deals with the understanding of the (transparent) organic/organic semiconductor interface. Such interfaces are present in organic opto-electronic devices such as OLEDs and solar cells. Prototypal interfaces are fabricated and material interactions, energy level alignment and charge transport are studied with ultra-sensitive optical techniques, photo-electron spectroscopy and time resolved charge transport measurements. Focus is on improving charge extraction/injection and reducing non-radiative charge recombination for improved device performance. The measured parameters will serve as input for interface and device modeling supported by TUG.
